STEADY BY JERKS

I heard from someone, somewhere that two wrongs don't make a right but if you make three left turns you do make a right. That might be a short bio of my life.
It seems that all of my life I have made three left turns at every cross roads that I have come to. The weird part is, I don't feel as if I have blundered at all. I think there are roses on every road we take and as long as we are still on one road or another life is beautiful.
I don't dwell on the "what ifs". It's easy to think that if we had made another choice our lives would have turned into the proverbial "bed of roses". But, what if the "if" had not been what we dreamed of. What if it had been a disaster?
In my younger years I had a friend who caught the world by the tail and soared into the upper echelons of the money world. He had offices in Los Angeles, Denver, San Francisco and Seattle. He owned a private plane with a crew and chauffeurs at every stop and he was a great guy. It was fun to be with him. He loved life and people and the money didn't mean that much to him. He won the "what if" battle. He didn't have to sit on a bar stool and lament his life choices, but his jet crashed in the Sierras between Denver and San Francisco.
Most people don't think about the bad side of the "What ifs". I think the "what ifs" may cause one's life to be worse, not better, like what happened to a lady in Las Vegas. She won a million dollar jackpot and on the way to celebrate with her family she was killed in a car crash.
My life has been what my dad called "steady by jerks". Nothing great or outstanding has happened to me or by me, but I am peaceful with who and where I am plus I am here to write about it.
I smell a rose with every step I take.

A lot of truth in this story of your friend, what matters if you have it all but lose your life in the process,maybe we who just keep plugging along have it all.
